Chains of Bondage No More | By, Gabe Delarosa

Last week’s Men’s Legacy Program at The Wilds in Ohio had the sound of Chains dropping on the floor echoing throughout the week as the men that attended came to terms with the sin in their lives that was holding them in bondage.   Jesus Christ came into this world, to show us the Way to the Father. He lived a blameless and sinless life, as the perfect example of how we should live. As long as we focus on Jesus, we keep our peace and joy.   The veterans and first responders that heard the gospel throughout the week understood that their sin is not what defines them, rather the coming to terms with their sin and repenting and moving forward to be reborn with the hope that God gives us is now what defines them.

7-6:6 Romans

“We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.”

Chains were broken and hope restored, new commitments had been made and the love for God had been strengthen for those that knew Him already, and the men that didn’t cried out for Him last week. Chains had indeed been broken!

Galatians 5:22-23

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no Law.”

We closed the week out not how it began with looks of fear, anger, and confusion; we closed it out with smiles, laughter, and hope. This change was made evident as we gathered together early Saturday morning, before we loaded the vehicles to head to the airport, as one of the veterans who didn’t speak much during the week wanted to open us in prayer before we started our journey. Chains had indeed been broken.
