MOF Honored at MBC

David Platt, McLean Bible Church Pastor-Teacher, shared an amazing message on Sunday, July 1st, on Faith and Freedom and (at 1:12 of the video below) honored Mighty Oaks Foundation and team leaders, Marc & Iris Estrada and Gabe & Tina Delarosa.

Ps Platt’s message revolved around the Scripture below (1 Peter 2:13-17) and two main points; the first being we are submissive citizens of a government and second, we are free servants of God!

“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.” 1 PETER 2:13 – 17

The service ended with a powerful message that honored our military Warriors who give their lives defending our nation’s freedom.

Let us all give our lives spreading ultimate freedom among all nations.

David Platt is currently the Pastor-Teacher at McLean Bible Church, President of the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board, and he is also the author of the New York Times Best Seller Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream. Platt released a follow-up book, Radical Together: Unleashing the People of God for the Purpose of God in April 2011. And in February 2013, he released Follow Me: A Call to Die, a Call to Live, which included an introduction by Francis Chan.
