Summer is the time for family vacations, backyard BBQs, gathering with friends and family, and don’t forget: Mighty Oaks’ Legacy Programs. Our Programs are in full swing during this season at all of our four locations. July hosted a Women’s Legacy Program in Ohio – our first ever at that location – and also a Men’s Legacy Program in California.

Twenty-three Warriors gathered at SkyRose Ranch in San Miguel this past week. They arrived in varying degrees of brokenness and defeat, purposelessness and hopelessness. All were looking for a change. All were ready to try something different because what they had been doing wasn’t working.

As the week progressed and the men fought through some very significant battles, they one-by-one began putting their trust in the staff and each other, then ultimately in Jesus Christ, the only One who can truly save and heal. On Friday morning after the flag salute, Program Manager Bill Coate asked the guys who wanted to pray for breakfast, and participant Brian Freeman volunteered. He began with stating he was reading his Bible the night before (something he admitted had never happened before) and he wanted to share what he read. Those verses were really the theme of the week. The sun flared in the camera lens and made a perfect cross over his shoulder as he read Psalm 71:1-3,

In You, O Lord, I put my trust;

Let me never be put to shame.

Deliver me in Your righteousness,

And cause me to escape;

Incline Your ear to me, and save me.

Be my strong refuge,

To which I may restore continually;

You have given the commandment to save me,

For You are my rock and my fortress.

This week’s Warriors, like so many before them, put their trust in Him, were delivered from their afflictions, know where to go for restoration, and found their way of escape… by aligning their lives to the life Jesus made possible by His sacrifice on Calvary. Stay tuned to our media outlets as August will host three consecutive Men’s Programs in three different states.

Many of our Nation’s Warriors struggle with the hardships of military service and reintegration back into civilian life; often leaving broken homes in their aftermath and comprise one of the most at risk groups for suicide. Mighty Oaks tackles this critical issue with our peer-to-peer resiliency and recovery programs offered at no cost to our honored service men and women. You can make a direct impact today and effect positive change through your donation, guiding our service men and women to find a new life purpose through hope in Christ.
