By John Mizerak –
On July 4th, 1776 the United States laid down its claim to be a free and independent nation by adopting the Declaration of Independence.  Today, Independence Day is celebrated and honored in many forms such as fireworks, BBQs and parades.  It is an opportunity for Americans to express patriotism and love of country including reflecting on the sacrifices from those in the military.
We celebrate the Declaration of Independence for two reasons. It represents an official severing of ties between the original 13 colonies and the rule of Great Britain. But it also represents the core of our beliefs, the very makeup of our identity as citizens of the U.S.
Independence Day not only celebrates the birth of our nation, but it honors the military’s commitment to defend our nation since 1775.  At that time, the Continental Army and the militia in the service of Congress, became known collectively as the Army of the United States, instead of the Army of the United Colonies.
For the team at Mighty Oaks, the Fourth of July is an occasion to celebrate and commemorate the freedom, history and legacy of the United States of America. It is an opportunity to reflect and thank our Warriors and their Families for their service, bravery, and patriotism.
God bless America!
