By John Mizerak – Major General (Retired) Robert F. “Bob” Dees was introduced to the Mighty Oaks Foundation through another Board of Advisor, Dave Barton. Dave thought that Major General Dees would be a perfect consultant for Chad and Jeremy to connect with for their Path to Resiliency book in 2017. In fact, Major General Dees was such a major contributor to the project that he also wrote the foreword for the book. The relationship grew quickly, and it wasn’t long before he also agreed to sign on as an Advisory Board member. We are so blessed to have him as one of our honored advisors!
Major General (Retired) Robert F. “Bob” Dees graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point in 1972, commissioned as a second lieutenant of Infantry with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also holds a Master’s degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School. His military education included the US Army Command and General Staff College, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and the British Royal College of Defence Studies.
General Dees served in a wide variety of command and staff positions culminating in his last three assignments as Assistant Division Commander for Operations, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); Commander, Second Infantry Division, United States Forces Korea; and as Deputy Commanding General, V (US/GE) Corps in Europe, concurrently serving as Commander, US-Israeli Combined Task Force for Missile Defense.
Following military retirement in January 2003, General Dees served in business and nonprofit ministry to the military. Now the President of Resilience Consulting LLC, he is also the Associate Vice President for Military Outreach, Adjunct Professor, and Director of the nation’s first faith-based Institute for Military Resilience at Liberty University. He is the author of Resilient Warriors (2011), the Resilient Warriors Advanced Study Guide (2012), Resilient Leaders (2013), and Resilient Nations (2014). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Military Community Youth Ministries (MCYM), Operation Military Family (OMF), the Invictus Foundation, Hope for the Home Front, and is a frequent presenter at the Institute for Veterans Education and Training (IVET).
General Dees speaks at numerous seminars and conferences, as well as commentary on military resilience in venues such as FOX Huckabee, FOX Business, Focus on the Family, Christian Broadcasting Network, American Family Radio, Wildfire Men’s Conferences, New Canaan Society, Pinnacle Forum, Wallbuilders Live, My Family Talk, Samaritans Purse, Family Research Council, and numerous churches and military bases across America. He was featured as one of 30 “Master Leaders” by George Barna.
General Dees is married to the former Kathleen Robinson of Houston, Texas. They have two children and seven grandchildren, and currently reside in Round Rock, Texas. General and Mrs. Dees are grateful for the privilege of serving God, Nation, and others during these critical times.
